About Nancy Konisky
Nancy Konisky of Millbury, MA, is the Director of Finance and Operations for the Athol Royalston Regional School District, a highly-rated public school district with an enrollment of over 1,000 students. Educational path to business executive
A Monument Mountain Regional High School graduate, Konisky went on to attend Berkshire Community College, where she received an Associate of Science in Business Administration. This path of study set a foundation for her career in both business and finance, where she learned the basics of accounting, business technology, and employee management. She went on to attend Western New England College and completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Management, which gave her the advanced skills to move into executive-level business administration and finances. She then received her licensure in School Business Administration.
Establishing a career in finance
Konisky started her path to becoming a strong female role model, working in the financial departments of leading business groups and financial services firms. This included a stint as Assistant Credit Manager at Forward Financial Company, where she oversaw all aspects of the credit department, from lending to human resources for the marine and recreational vehicles division. Nancy also worked as a Mortgage Department Manager for Commerce Bank and Trust before transitioning into administrative roles with the public school system.
The financial industry can not only be competitive, but it demands that one strike a balance between work and home life. Konisky discovered how to overcome these crucial challenges while acting as Finance and HR Coordinator for Consolidated Beverages, a wholesale distributor of malt beverages. In this early role, Konisky assisted executive sales divisions in maintaining the Budweiser distribution and financial account, including human resource and contract sales functions.
Public School Administrator
Nancy Konisky is proud of her work as a public school administrator, where she has the opportunity to help public school systems achieve higher academic standards. She joined the Advanced Math and Science Charter Academy in Marlborough, MA, as an Accounting Coordinator, where she handled accounts payable, accounts receivable, benefits, and payroll. By the following year, she was promoted to Business Manager and HR Director, overseeing the entire financial system, including developing the new budget for each school year, human resources, food services, facilities, and transportation.
Konisky moved into the role of Business Manager at Sutton Public Schools, where strict oversight of school finances is critical to many aspects of the educational system, including the quality of teachers, the student/teacher ratio, and the amount of extracurricular programming that is made available In 2022, Nancy Konisky was hired as the Director of Finance and Operations for the Berlin Boylston Regional School District, and she has now transitioned to the Athol Royalston Regional School District with a pivotal role in which she has been tasked with developing and maintaining the school budget, establishing budget management procedures, and presenting regular updates to the Finance and School Committee. She is also responsible for preparing state and federal financial reports for grants and DESE compliance within the district.
Personal Life
Nancy Konisky grew up in the iconic Berkshires. She moved to Middlesex County after college and began climbing the corporate ladder in finance. It was in Boylston, MA that she purchased a townhouse , and in this community, that she met her future husband, Anthony Konisky. They moved to Millbury, MA, and have teen daughters attending Blackstone Valley Technical High School.
Konisky is an avid traveler, enjoying vacationing to many different landmarks such as Nashville, Tennessee; Washington DC; Austin, Texas; Stowe, Vermont; Bar Harbor, ME; Baltimore, Maryland; Philadelphia, PA, Canada; Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Canada, and also enjoys visiting Boston. She also enjoys bringing an eclectic decorating style into her home, mixing materials and styles to create a one-of-a-kind statement that is cozy and warm yet visually energetic.
